I am a fundraising and organizational development consultant, working with non-profit organization boards and staff to help them become better leaders, advocates, and fundraisers. In other words: “You can raise more money for your organization. I can help.”

Since 2003, I have worked with land trusts and other non-profit conservation organizations under the business name Development for Conservation, focusing on fundraising assessment (development audits) and major gift development training. I am a regular presenter at the Land Trust Alliance’s national conference, “Rally,” as well as several other regional land trust conferences. In addition to development audits and major gift development training, I also offer capital and annual campaign consulting services.

Conservation Consulting Group

In 2014, I partnered with nonprofit consultant Nancy Moore to form Conservation Consulting Group (CCG). Working together, we help land trusts prepare for accreditation by providing assessment, planning, and leadership coaching services. The path to accreditation is difficult, but rewarding, and we can help your land trust navigate the complex requirements to achieve this goal.  CCG also provides strategic planning, facilitation, board development, coaching and mentoring, as well as training programs for land trusts.

Business Philosophy

I believe that fundraising is a core responsibility for board directors and that even organizations with talented staff are stronger when directors are engaged in fundraising. My clients will tell you that the most important deliverables are the intangible ones: courage, confidence, clarity, and know-how. I believe in delivering these real values for my clients, and I price my services based on service products rather than time. I will do whatever it takes to get the job done, and my agreements reflect that business philosophy.

Background

I have worked in membership fundraising, major donor development, communications, marketing, and senior administrative management for 30 years, including nearly half that time with Nature Conservancy (TNC) chapters in Oregon, Texas, and Wisconsin. I also served TNC nationally as an internal fundraising consultant and major donor development trainer. Following my work with TNC, I served 9 years in senior administrative management with the Sand County Foundation.

I consider myself a strategic thinker, problem solver, facilitator, educator, and program developer who brings a particular passion for conservation and the environment.
